WHO AM I?
I am a lifelong advocate for children and families.
A Piece of My Story:
The week of my 13th birthday, my family moved to Indiana when my dad's job brought us here. Since then, Columbia City has been home.
This is the community where I grew up! I attended church, learned to drive, and got my first job at Taco Bell when I was 16. During my teenage years, I had the privilege of babysitting for many wonderful local families. I've spent countless hours meeting friends for coffee at Brew'ha and browsing the shelves of our local library. My community involvement when I was younger included things like 4H activities, YMCA classes, helping at The Center, and many community service projects through church. So many things that make this community special to me.
Years later, that same community became the place where my husband and I chose to build our life together. We will celebrate 13 years of marriage this year. When we were first married, my husband owned a home in Warsaw, but after many conversations and much planning, we decided to purchase our first home together right here in Columbia City, the town I have always considered home.
Today, we are raising our family in the same community that helped shape me. We enjoy bike rides along the Blue River Trail, spending time in our local parks, supporting local businesses often by sneaking away for breakfast or lunch dates whenever we can. My boys and I enjoy frequent trips to the YMCA for an endorphins boost, we have met some of the most amazing people there by serving in Child Watch. My boys enjoy community sports through our parks department; we have gained many friendships through sports and are grateful for the men and women who step up to coach.
One of my greatest joys is watching our boys put down their own Whitley County roots through friendships, sports, and community involvement. Seeing them grow up in the same community that gave so much to me is truly special.
As a parent, I have experienced firsthand the importance of strong schools, open communication, and accountability within our education system. My involvement in school board meetings and conversations with local families has deepened my commitment to serving our community and helping ensure that every student has access to a safe, supportive, and high-quality education.
