Stephanie Wilson: Integrity In Action-School Board Committee
About Stephanie
The Candidate
I am running for School Board because I believe our students deserve the very best opportunities to succeed, our teachers deserve meaningful support, and our families deserve a voice that is heard and respected.

As a parent, community member, and advocate for children, I understand firsthand how important education is to the future of our community. My experiences working with families, attending School Board meetings, and navigating educational challenges have given me a deeper understanding of both the strengths of our schools and the areas where improvement is needed.

I believe strong schools are built on a foundation of integrity, transparency, accountability, and collaboration. When families, educators, administrators, and community members work together with mutual respect, students benefit. My goal is to help restore trust through open communication, responsible leadership, and a commitment to putting students first in every decision.

I am passionate about supporting academic excellence, strengthening special education services, promoting safe and respectful learning environments, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. I also believe parents should be valued partners in their children's education and that their voices deserve to be heard throughout the decision-making process.

As a School Board member, I will focus on listening to our community, asking thoughtful questions, and making informed decisions that prioritize student success while being responsible stewards of taxpayer resources. I am committed to supporting our teachers and staff, protecting educational opportunities for all students, and helping prepare the next generation for lifelong success.
Columbia City and Whitley County are more than just where I live. It is home. This is where I have built my home, started a family, formed lasting friendships, and invested in our community. I care deeply about the future of our schools because I care deeply about the future of our children.

THE WHY...
First and foremost, I care deeply about the future of our community and the future of our country. The children we invest in today will become the leaders, workers, parents, and community members of tomorrow. Their success doesn't happen by chance, it is shaped by the people who encourage, teach, guide, and support them along the way. Every adult in a child's life has an important role to play. That may be a parent, grandparent, or other family member. It may be a teacher, coach, school employee, church leader, or a local business owner offering a young person their first job. Each of us has opportunities to make a positive impact, and together we help build the foundation for future generations.

The conversation about running for School Board began a few years ago as simple conversations between me and my husband. Since then, I have spent considerable time praying, learning, asking questions, attending meetings, and gaining a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of the role. I did not make this decision lightly. After thoughtful consideration and preparation, I felt called and ready to step forward and serve our community in this capacity. I am running because I believe strong schools, engaged families, and a connected community are essential to student success. I am committed to listening, learning, and working alongside parents, educators, and community members to help ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

My priorities are simple:
Guided By Integrity. Focused On Students.
Restore Trust Through Transparency
I support open communication, transparent decision-making, and public accountability. Families and taxpayers deserve access to information and a voice in important decisions affecting our schools.
Fiscal Responsibility and Student-Focused Spending
I am committed to responsible budgeting, transparent financial practices, and ensuring resources are directed where they make the greatest impact for supporting students, teachers, and classroom success.
Protect Families and Respect Rights
Parents are a child's first and most important teachers. I believe families should be informed, involved, and respected as partners in education. Every student deserves a safe, fair, and supportive learning environment where their rights and well-being are considered and taken seriously.
The Goal
My goal is to support a school system that values integrity, transparency, respect, and academic excellence while strengthening the partnership between our schools, families, and community.
What Brought Me Here
My journey to serving on the School Board did not begin because everything was working well, it began because I experienced challenges firsthand.

My history with the school district has not always been a positive one. As a parent, I encountered situations that raised concerns and led me to ask difficult questions. Through those experiences, I came to believe that if we are willing to identify problems, we must also be willing to become part of the solution.

Rather than remaining frustrated, I committed myself to learning. I spent countless hours researching the roles and responsibilities of parents, teachers, administrators, community members, and elected School Board members. The more I learned, the more I realized that many of the challenges facing students were not isolated incidents. In many cases, there appeared to be a breakdown in communication, accountability, and mutual respect between various levels of leadership.

Those discoveries strengthened my desire to serve. I believe our schools function best when there is a strong foundation of honesty, transparency, and trust. Transparency is more than simply sharing information, it requires honesty at every level. Without honesty, trust cannot exist, and without trust, meaningful partnerships become difficult to build.

I believe parents deserve access to accurate information so they can effectively support their children and work alongside teachers as true partners in education. I believe students deserve leaders who will ask questions, seek understanding, and make decisions based on what is best for children. Most importantly, I believe our community deserves a School Board that listens, communicates openly, and remains accountable to the families it serves.

That belief is what led me to run for School Board, and it continues to guide my commitment to restoring trust, strengthening partnerships, and putting students first.
My Three Core Beliefs

1
Trust Is Earned Through Integrity and Transparency
I believe strong schools require strong leadership. Trust between families, educators, administrators, and the School Board can only exist when decisions are made with honesty, integrity, and transparency. Parents deserve access to accurate information, open communication, and leaders who are willing to listen, answer questions, and be accountable for their decisions.
As a School Board member, I will advocate for transparency, encourage respectful dialogue, and work to restore public trust through leadership that is open, honest, and focused on serving our community.
2
Parents Are Essential Partners in Education
I believe parents are their children's first and most important teachers. The most successful educational outcomes occur when schools and families work together with mutual respect and a shared commitment to student success.
Every parent deserves to be heard, respected, and included in conversations that impact their child's education. I will support policies and practices that strengthen communication between schools and families while encouraging collaboration that helps students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
3
Every Decision Should Put Students First
The purpose of every school district is to serve students. Every policy, budget decision, program, and initiative should ultimately be measured by one question: How does this benefit students?
I believe every child deserves access to a safe learning environment, high-quality educational opportunities, dedicated teachers, and the support they need to reach their full potential. This includes ensuring that all students, including those with unique learning needs, have access to the resources and support necessary for success.
As a School Board member, I will remain focused on student achievement, educational excellence, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and preparing the next generation for lifelong success.
